May 1 -  Fly By Light World Premiere: “Fly By Light” is a feature-length documentary that chronicles the stories of a group of DC teenagers seeking to change their lives through their participation in the "Fly By Light" program. 6:30 pm.   May 2 3rd Annual DC Web & Digital Media Festival: DC Web Fest will showcase the best in online filmmaking. 6 pm - 10 pm.  May 2 - The Millennial Jobs Summit: An event for innovators, thought leaders, career professionals and students that are looking to find and create opportunity. 10 am - 3 pm.   May 2 - ROBOTDISCO @ Funk Parade: ROBOTDISCO is a tech/craft space for reimaging the future … and building robot costumes at the second annual DC Funk Parade. 2 pm - 5 pm.   May 4 – Compete DC Signing Ceremony & LaunchCompeteDC is an initiative committed to furthering the Mayor’s mission to focus local procurement power to support DC small businesses.   May 7 - FedScoop’s Data Innovation Summit: This summit will cover modernizing the network through cutting edge technologies and the integration of innovation with feature sessions on Big Data Innovation, Integrating Heterogeneous Data, Enterprise Agility, Object Based Intelligence, and Digital Asset Management. 7:30 am - 1:15 pm.  May 7 - Women of Color in Business Reception: Celebrate National Small Business Week by joining Walker’s Legacy and Accelerate with Google for our annual spring networking reception. 6 pm - 8 pm.   May 8 - 1776 Challenge Cup Kick-off: The Challenge Festival is a week of events convening the people with the best ideas for global impact in education, energy & sustainability, health, and transportation & cities from around the world.  May 9  DC Transportation Hackathon and Policy Jam: DMPED, DDOT and Code for DC will host a full-day event bringing together civic hackers, transportation geeks, urban planners, academics, entrepreneurs, and community members.  Participants will brainstorm and code their way to fresh insights about DC’s transportation ecosystem and what it should look like in the 21st century. 9:30 am - 5:30 pm.   May 9 - VinoFest DC 2015: Washington, DC's Premier Music/Wine/Tech Festival curated by VinoLovers Inc. 5 pm - 10 pm.   May 11 – Microsoft Women’s Retreat: Titled The Heroes: Progressive and Innovative Women, this is an event that gathers some of the top executive female leaders to share stories of past and present heroes, and consider the unique opportunities women have to influence the future.   May 12 - National Inventors Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony: Each year, the National Inventors Hall of Fame (NIHF) welcomes a new class of the world’s foremost inventors and brings those men and women together with fellow innovators, corporate leaders, and leaders in Innovation. 6:15 pm.   May 13 - Ashoka Future Forum 2015: Join the nation's leading social innovators, business entrepreneurs, philanthropists and media to create a better future and build a world where everyone is a changemaker. Varies.   May 15 – 1776 Challenge Cup: Hosted by 1776, The Challenge Festival is a week of events convening people with the best ideas for global impact in education, energy & sustainability, health, and transportation & cities. The Challenge Festival will include industry conferences, galas, and the culmination of the Challenge Cup where over 70 entrepreneurs from around the world will compete for $650,000 in prizes.  May 18 - Millennial Trains Project: (MTP) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that leads crowd-funded transcontinental train journeys for diverse groups of young innovators (and virtual audiences) to explore America's new frontiers. Leaves Los Angeles May 21st and arrives in Washington, DC May 31st.   May 21 – DigiGirlz EventDigiGirlz, a Microsoft YouthSpark Initiative, aims to address the gender gap in technology roles.  It is part of Microsoft’s longstanding commitment to strengthening the pipeline of women in technology and give school girls (grades 6-8) the chance to experience first-hand what it is like to develop cutting-edge technology.  May 22 – Living Spaces /C.E.S.A.R.: Announcing the first ever Comprehensive Environmental Survey of Arts Resources (C.E.S.A.R.), a web-based interactive mapping tool that will pin-point and catalogue the District’s cultural assets by aggregating information regarding the density and/or clusters of individual artists throughout the city.  May 28 -  Pigmental Animation Studios Ribbon Cutting: Pigmental Studios is a cutting-edge animation studio moving to DC from Los Angeles. They will hire DC residents and provide training and workforce development opportunities to its entire staff.  May 29 - Mayor Bowser to Tour New Innovation Labs at DCPL: Mayor Muriel Bowser visits the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library to tour two new innovative spaces, a fabrication lab and a recording and editing studio.  June 1 - Mayor Bowser to Participate in Aspen Institute Forum on Innovation: Mayor Muriel Bowser joins author and Aspen Institute President and CEO Walter Isaacson for a one-on-one discussion on the importance of connecting underserved communities to technology and innovation in the District of Columbia.
