Statement From Mayor Bowser in Response to Federal Emergency Declaration
Today, President Obama signed a disaster declaration for the District of Columbia, and ordered federal aid to support the District's recovery from January’s historic blizzard.
In response to the President’s declaration, Mayor Muriel Bowser released the following statement:
“The residents of the District of Columbia thank President Obama for declaring a major disaster and ordering federal aid to supplement the District’s recovery efforts from January’s historic storm. The District will continue to work with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to determine the final costs of the storm. We appreciate the speed, thoughtfulness and professionalism from the Obama Administration throughout this process.”
